SANDBOX — a test environment. Not for real patients, real prescriptions or real payments.
How it works

Two ordering paths, one order record.

A patient prescription and an office-use purchase are different kinds of order, so they take different paths. Both end in the same place: an order record with its status, payment and fulfillment together.

From the catalog to the doorstep.

You see the total before anyone signs. TrueRoute selects the fulfillment route under a versioned, written routing policy, and checks your prescriber’s licence and the patient’s state before anything is charged.

What the video shows

The video has no sound; its words are on screen. In order:

  1. Catalog. The clinic’s catalog at its account’s prices, priced for the state each order ships to.
  2. Prescribe. A prescription with its shipping choice and the order total shown before anything is signed.
  3. Sign and pay. The prescriber signs, TrueRoute selects the route, and the order is paid with the clinic’s card on file.
  4. Track. Every order in one list, each with its status and tracking once it ships.
  5. Labs. Lab tests ordered for a patient on file, every fee on its own line before the order is placed, with four ways to collect: a collection site visit, a mobile draw at the patient’s address, a collection kit, or a requisition the patient takes to a draw site.
  6. Office use. An office-use purchase order for practice stock, with quantity tiers and a firm quote including shipping before it is placed.

Setup happens once.

We set up your organization, locations, team and prescribers, and the ordering programs that fit your account. Prescribers are enrolled where fulfillment requires it. After setup, your team orders in TrueRoute directly; nobody needs to contact us to place an order.

What happens after you open an account.

No software to install and no implementation project. You can browse your prices while we verify your clinic.

  1. 1

    You open your account online

Your clinic, your prescribers with their NPI and licences, and where you ship.

  2. 2

    Automatic checks

We check each prescriber’s NPI and licences automatically.

  3. 3

    We verify your clinic

A person on our team verifies your clinic before your first order is released.

  4. 4

    Your first order

Placed by your team, with ours on hand to help.

Path 1: a patient prescription.

The prescription screen is the complete prescription. It carries every element a valid prescription requires and freezes them when the prescriber signs. TrueRoute selects the fulfillment route under a versioned, written routing policy and shows the order total before signature.

  1. 1

    Patient and prescriber

The patient’s legal name, date of birth, sex, address and phone, and the prescriber who will sign.

  2. 2

    Product

A specific product with its unit spelled out, so the quantity is unambiguous. The prescriber sets the quantity and directions; TrueRoute does not prescribe.

  3. 3

    Review and sign

The whole prescription, the route and the total on one panel. The prescriber attests and signs; what is signed is what the pharmacy receives.

  4. 4

    Pay

The checks run again on the server, and the card is charged through the payment route set up for your account.

  5. 5

    Follow the order

The order is sent to the pharmacy, and its status, tracking and any exception show on the order record.

Path 2: an office-use purchase.

Practice stock is a purchase order, not a prescription: there is no patient, no directions and no prescription signature. It is available once your account’s program and delivery location are set up.

  1. 1

    Program and location

Choose the office-use program your account holds and an approved delivery location.

  2. 2

    Products and quantities

Pick products and quantities. Quantity pricing applies automatically at each tier.

  3. 3

    Shipping and total

Choose a shipping method and see a firm total: the amount you are charged. If a price changes before you place the order, you are asked again.

  4. 4

    Place and pay

Place the order and pay in the same screen.

  5. 5

    Follow the order

Your bulk orders list shows payment and fulfillment status, with tracking once it ships.

The nine gates, in order.

Nine gates run in order and stop at the first failure, so the record says why: “lost on ship-to state” is a different fact from “your organization has not enabled that pharmacy” and from “they do not carry that SKU.” Every candidate’s per-gate outcome is recorded. The server re-runs all of them at signature and again at send: a route that no longer qualifies is refused with a reason, never silently re-routed.

  1. 0

    Controlled substance

Product-level and absolute: refused before any pharmacy is considered, because no choice of pharmacy could bring a controlled substance into scope for us.

  2. 1

    Provider licence

The prescriber holds an active licence in the patient’s shipping state.

  3. 2

    Clinic entitlement

The parent organization has enabled this pharmacy for this clinic. Access is opt-in; a missing row is “no.”

  4. 3

    Practice enrollment

The clinic is on file at that pharmacy as an active account.

  5. 4

    Prescriber enrollment

The clinic’s prescriber is on file there, under their own NPI and state licence.

  6. 5

    Facility type

Office-use may go only to a 503B; patient-specific may go to either.

  7. 6

    Ship-to state

The pharmacy can ship to the patient’s state.

  8. 7

    Product carried and priced

The pharmacy carries the selected SKU, it is orderable, and there is a price for the quantity asked for.

  9. 8

    Transport ready

A transport route exists and is configured, so the order can physically leave the building: checked before the card is charged, not discovered after.

We tell your patient what we can actually prove.

When a pharmacy reports a shipment, by webhook or because a named person on our ops desk entered the tracking number, TrueRoute emails the patient and, only with prior express consent on file, texts them. The clinic’s admin contact gets a copy.

Example text to the patient, sent only with consent

Your order from Bayside Wellness has shipped. Tracking (UPS): 1Z999AA10123456784

No medication name, dose, strength or SKU: the template has no parameter for one. Sent only if prior express consent is recorded, re-checked on every send.

Example email to the patient

Subject: Your order from Bayside Wellness has shipped Your order from Bayside Wellness is on its way. Carrier: UPS Tracking number: 1Z999AA10123456784 Track your order: a signed link If you did not expect this, contact your clinic.

The subject line follows the same rule as the text message: it shows on a lock screen, so it carries no medication detail either.

Four different states. Four different words.

“Shipped,” “the carrier has it,” “the message provider took it” and “your patient received it” are four separate facts, and most software says the first one and means the fourth. We label each one as what it is, and we do not claim the one we cannot observe.

  • We record this

    Shipment recorded

A pharmacy webhook or a named ops-desk staffer entered a carrier and a tracking number against the order. This is the event that sends the messages.

  • We link to it

    Carrier acceptance

The carrier’s own scan, on the carrier’s own page. The patient’s status page links out to it rather than restating it as though it were ours.

  • We record this

    Message provider accepted

Our email or text provider took custody and returned a reference, which we store. A failed send is recorded as failed; a channel that is not configured is recorded as not sent, never as success.

  • We do not claim this

    Recipient delivery

Whether the message reached the person. TrueRoute does not process delivery receipts for these messages, and a provider accepting a message is custody, not delivery. We will not say “delivered” about something we did not observe.

  • A status page, not a portal

The link in the message is signed, expires, and opens one page: the order’s progress as the pharmacy reported it, plus the carrier and tracking number. No medication, no price, no patient record, no login. An expired or invalid link and an order that does not exist render the same page, so the link cannot be used to probe for one.

  • No two-way chat

These messages are one-way notifications; replying STOP opts the patient out and updates the consent record in our own system, not just the carrier’s. There is no patient portal and no patient chat. The clinical relationship is the clinic’s, and it stays there.

Limits, plainly.

  • Who decides where an order is filled?

TrueRoute selects the route under its written routing policy, and price does not select it. The route and its total are shown before the prescriber signs, and the pharmacy that dispensed is recorded on the order.

  • What happens if an order cannot go through?

Nothing is signed or charged on a route that does not qualify, and the screen says why. An order that stops later shows the reason on the order record, and our operators work the exception with you.

  • Does TrueRoute handle controlled substances?

No. TrueRoute is for non-controlled products and prescriptions only, and refuses a controlled substance before anything else runs. There is no DEA workflow and no EPCS.

  • Is there a patient portal?

No. Patients receive one-way shipment notifications and a signed, logistics-only status link. There is no patient login or chat.

Shipment texts and email subject lines carry no medication name, dose, strength or product, and a text is sent only if prior express consent is recorded.

    How shipment messages work

  • Do you confirm a patient received the message?

No. We record that a shipment was reported and that our message provider accepted the message. We do not process delivery receipts for shipment messages, so we never say a message was delivered.
